Health Benefits of Eggs Eggs are rich in nutrients, including protein that helps you build strong muscles. In fact, one egg contains about six grams of protein. Eggs also contain choline, which is necessary for healthy cell membranes in all of your body, and it's also good for your mental function and memory.

Eggs are high in several vitamins including B vitamins, which help your body convert the foods you eat into energy; vitamin A, which is essential for normal vision and healthy skin; and vitamin E, which is an antioxidant.

Eggs contain selenium, which is a mineral that your body needs for a strong immune system, and lutein and zeaxanthin, two antioxidants related to vitamin A.

One egg as about 70 calories and the combination of fats and protein means eggs are very satisfying. Eating one egg as part of a healthy breakfast may help you lose weight by keeping you from getting hungry later in the morning.
