Healthy Raspberry Orange Smoothie

This smoothie provides plenty of energy and is an excellent way to get your vitamin C, potassium, and fiber from the fruit, plus protein and calcium from yogurt. Its also a great source of iron.

 

Ingredients

1 banana, sliced

1 cup orange juice

1/2 cup plain or vanilla yogurt

1/2 cup fresh or frozen raspberries

2 - 4 ice cubes

 

Note* you can use frozen banana chunks and eliminate the ice cubes.

 

Directions

Place all ingredients in a powerful blender or food processor and puree until smooth. Makes two smoothies.

 

Nutrition information for one serving

165 calories

1.5 grams fat

650 milligrams potassium

3.5 grams fiber

5.5 grams protein

23 grams sugar

 

One raspberry smoothie provides 12 percent of your daily need for calcium, 10 percent of your daily need for iron, and almost 200% of your daily need for vitamin C.
